Introduction

The aim of this integration is to improve two of the poorer facets of the compiere/adempiere system and those are:

  • Document Management
  • Document based workflows
  • Web Content Management
  • Portal and Portlets infrastructure

Instead of attempting to reinvent the wheel. The adempiere system can be integrated with the best-of-breed OS Portal-ECM mashup Alfresco-Liferay. These are already integrated together with SSO and a portlet container in Liferay for accessing documents in Alfresco.

Functional advantages

Integration with these applications would massively improve the document management and front end web interface available to companies using ADempiere as an ERP solution. Since Sales / Customers / Products in the ADempiere are inherently intertwined with documents attached to them, it is only logical that ADempiere would offer out-of-the box integration with these best-of-breed tools in order to have competitive edge against MBS Dynamix/Sharepoint and SAP ECC 6.0/SAP Portal etc... ADempiere must match and exceed these competitors to be taken seriously.

Technical Approach

  • The creation of WSDL connections for the ADempiere functions would enable the creation of portlets to expose the Adempiere system to a 'pretty UI and to create mashups in portlets for public consumption and B2B and B2C commerce systems.
  • Extending the Single Sign On interface that already works for Alfresco/Liferay to ADempiere / Zimbra / Asterisk would ensure a seamless access at the user level.
  • Replacing the Attachment function in ADempiere with Alfresco... I don't know how to approach this? Any ideas?
